Hello everyone.

I'm looking into a versys 650 for my next bike.
I am currently on a Yamaha diversion naked from 97. It's running on its lat
st legs so I want something new.

I mainly use it for work/home trafic. About 40km a day. either freeway in good weather or backstreets when it rains.

I got one question where i cannot find a direct answer to.
How do I recognize if a second hand bike has got ABS or not?
I'm looking at one and the owner claims it does not have ABS, bu I can see an ABS sticker on the front suspension. Besides that, is there another easy way to check it?

Thank you and I will be cruising through this forum the next coupl of weeks :)

Hi from Belgium as well. :D

the easiest way to check for ABS is to look at the front brake rotor. If it has an extra ring it has ABS.
I am not even sure the V was ever sold in Belgium without ABS.

Mine might be up for sale as well by the way. I am just missing my XTZ too much :S

How can you tell then it has ABS besides the sticker ? :)
It's up for 4690€ with 6500Km on it.
But i'll be trading my bike in so the price will go down a little

:welcome: Bienvenue camarade d'outre-Quiévrain!

I do confirm the answer of Ivan. On the picture you'd mentioned, we can see a small part of the ABS ring located on the left front break. So it has ABS.

That sounds a good deal IMHO.

This is the one that's for sale at MTG, right?
The bike looks in good condition. But if you are buying there because of the 1 year warranty I would make very clear and detailed agreements on paper about what that warranty covers exactly. I have some friends with bad experiences at that shop. Then again, if the bike is in the shape it looks looks on the picture you probably won't need the warranty.

There's also a nice 2009 traveller edition for sale at Bikers Zone for a similar price by the way.

And a couple of 2007 models with similar mileages on the usual second hand sites...

Anyway, I hope you find a nice one!

Well I went to the store.
Turns out the bike in the store isnt the one on the picture. Discription was correct and also a green one with that purple spring.
But no ABS.
So i dint get it. Need to think about it.

thanks for all the help

A ABS system would need an encoder wheel aka the ring (a disc with lots of equal pitch holes along a diameter) to measure speed readings of the wheel.

Well Little update from me.
I found another one.
2007 with 2200 km on it. It belongs to a guy who bought and shortly after got a new job wich requires him to travel alot. Hence the reason why the milage is so low. It's got a Givi top case.

I bought it after doing a little testrun.

Goint to pic it up tomorrow, I hope I can sleep tonight :p

Only down point, its a silver one.
