I'm a new rider and recently bought my first bike, a Versys 650. I'm coming to find just why everyone says it is such a great bike to learn on. I'm here mostly to learn about motorcycling in general, my bike in specific, and maybe find inspiration for mods in the future.

A new rider who wants to learn about motorcycles? I could go on for days. I'll spare you.

Here's some of what I want to tell new riders:

The best advice: Five things to remember

A common-sense guide to gear

The single best tip ever

Mistakes street riders make

Lifelong learning helps your odds of a long life: Stayin Safe school

What we learned from a federal motorcycle crash study

One last thing: People love to talk about, spend money on and show off their mods (to the bike). In every single instance, modifications to the rider, in terms of instruction, practice and learning, pay bigger dividends than mods to the bike. I've seen kids on Ninja 300s blitz guys on farkled Ducati 1199s at track days often enough to know that's true. (Not to mention a then 12-year-old Elena Myers blasting by me like I was a curb.)

OK, I'll stop now.

Welcome From Canada

:welcome:to the forum, as to your photo, you need to edit it out, rotate it, then load it back, depending on what you are using, you may need to save it on your computer upside down to be able to load properly. I could have made a smart ass remark if you lived in OZ, however you aren't that far down under.

:welcome: aboard!

Anybody know why it turns my profile picture upside down?
Yes - it's a camera-setting to AUTOMATICALLY turn pics so you see them erected on your camera/ phone. Disable it!
