Well I been looking to get my first bike for over a couple of months, I found a 2009 versys with 1000 miles for $5999 (plus all of the dealership fees and tax), what do you guys think about that price? What do you think its worth? I checked Kelly Blue Book retail price and is $4555.

They also have a vstrom and a KLR going for the same price. Please let me know what you think of the price of the versys and what you guys think about the other bikes.

Thank you so much,

I would not pay that for a used 2009. Buying private will not bring that kind of cash. Dealerships must mark up their bikes to keep the lights on and pay the employees. I say keep looking or go talk to them and offer them a couple hundred more than the going rate and they may bite.

Don't think you have to pay sticker on a used machine. Money talks and BS walks.

I bought a new 2011 for about $600 more than that. There are several in the DFW area for the price I paid. I would run quickly to a different dealer with either a leftover or new bike and work a better deal.

I sold my 08 Versys last year with over $2k in add on's for $4500 and just bought an 09 a couple of months ago with only 80 miles on it in showroom condition for $4200. Last fall, the Kawasaki Dealer in Tulsa was selling new, blue left over 09's for $5399 out the door. Keep shopping!

Keep looking... Got my 2010 (gen2-less vibey engine and a facelift) for 6k with a motowerks lowering kit, factory low gel seat (plus oem seat) and less than 1k miles for $6k OTD... even a stealership can give you a better deal than that :thumb:

With 1000 miles on an 09, with taxes they are still making $150 or so above KBB. I haven't looked at the trade value but they probably added another $600 or so top of that.

If YOU are happy at $5,000, then that's a GREAT price!

I paid $4800 for my low mileage '09 last month. It was the only one within 500 miles, so I took what I could get. If you want it, buy it. You won't be disappointed.:goodluck:

I'd offer them 4800 and be done with it. 3 year old motorcycle with 1000 miles and they are like 1500 over KBB?

If they don't take it remind them that most Versys sit on show room floors for awhile and they won't make money on it just sitting there taking up floor space. If they still refuse to deal leave your name and number and go find a better deal.

I had a slightly different scenario. I went to my local dealer for the 2011 model. They wouldn't even order me one with a 1000 down and my trade in (which they offered me 2800 for). Kept trying to put me on a KTM or a Ninja 1000. After the third time telling them no I really wanted a Versys and wasn't interested in anything else I walked out. Drove 20 miles Northwest and basically walked out the next day with my Versys (was close to closing and I went in without my title). Which was ok I got to enjoy my little baby ninja for another fun filled night of ripping around the backroads.

The only reason I go to that previous dealer is to pick up cleaning supplies. They give me a dirty look every time I walk in. Which is fine by me because when I pull out of their lot I'm smiling because I got a better deal and my Versys.

Hi everyone, I want to thank everyone for taking the time and giving me some advice. I did got a bike, but is not a versys. After going back and fowards with the dealership we didnt get to a good price, so I decided to look somewhere else, and now im the proud owner of a 2006 v strom. I will definetely keep participating in this forum and hope that one day i will get a versys, so once again thanks for the help it was really useful!
