Hello all! I'm Casey from Booneville, MS. Found this great wealth of information by accident over at ADVrider. I do not own a Versys yet but am in the process of finding one. Here is the scoop. I plan on doing a ride across the country during May/June to celebrate my graduation from college and 1 year of being cancer free post-chemo. I have been planning this for a while (lots of free time going through chemo!) and have decided the Versys may be my best option for this trip. Had to sell my last bike to pay for medical bills. Hoping to sell one of my vehicles to buy the bike and help fund the trip. Nice to be here. Seems like a great place!

I'm still working on a route but so far I think I'm going up to Ocean City, MD and riding US-50 all the way across. Probably get there partially by the BRP and make a detour to Moab.

I've been planning for a while but think I'm going to leave my route as it is for now. I don't want to get too caught up in the details...I want this to be a much needed adventure...

Congratulations on your year, many more to you. We expect a trip report as you progress across the nation.

If you get lost and stray into WA state (some excellent riding BTW), look me up. We have a group up here in the Pacific Northwet-the Viagra. VersysIntoAdventuresandGreatRidesAnytime! OR-WA-BC & AB have some of the best light traffic roads in N.America.

I'm planning on doing a full trip report. I wasn't planning on making it that far north but you never know! Hopefully everything will work out. This has been a long time dream of mine and I finally have the time off (don't start my new job until around August). So how do you guys think the Versys will handle the trip?

Hello Casey from a fellow Mississippian. I live in Jackson and purchased my Versys about 5 weeks ago. Although I have not been on any long distance trips yet, it is great on the 120 mile Sunday rides I have been making. I personally feel it would be a great choice. Plenty of power, light and nimble and 50mpg.:thumb:

congrats, first for graduation (mine's coming up soon too!!), second on your recovery!
Good luck finding a V! You'll love it, it is a great bike to do ANY ride on.
I'll be heading (kinda) your way in late May, maybe we can meet up somewhere along the road!

Another former Mississippian says hello back to you... high school in Ripley (VERY close to Booneville), pharmacy school in Oxford & Jackson, live in Nashville now but still keep in touch with folks back home. Enjoy the bike and congrats on your remission!
