Greetings All,

Apparently I need to make 2 posts to have proper access here so here goes first.

Got a 2015 650 Versys LT here imported from USA and am currently prepping it for a Northern Europe trip this summer.

Thought i could update my introduction somewhat :)

The Versys (brag)story

Bit more than a year ago, in March 2018 I have decided that it is time to look for a new bike. As the local market is full of trash, I rather opted for importing one (to Lithuania) from the States. Had the understanding that I want something with a dual purpose (previously owned a street bike). Found the first bike on Copart and tried my luck (think it was Yamaha or Suzuki, can't recall precisely) and lost by a hundred or so americans.

Then I've found the Versys, looked reasonably good at first what soon turned into a not so bright picture by the time I received it (at the end of June or some 3 months since the moment I bought it), but can't complain much when you buy the bike for a few hundred bucks (literally). Crashed, from Colorado Springs (maybe it used to belong to somebody from this group?).

Therefore, the Epic journey of restoration began... Restored using OEM parts only and passed road-worthiness certification at the end of August. Some minor parts / upgrades were taking place ever since with parts arriving from US, UK, Italy, Germany and Australia.

Equipped it with the following goods:
· OEM Gear indicator (why not?);
· OEM DC output (same?);
· Givi Panniers (48L), Top Case (58L), Tank Bag (ST605), mounts obviously;
· Givi Frame guards (TN4114);
· Givi Radiator guard;
· Givi LS4114 Aux lamp mounts;
· SW-Motech Phone / GPS bracket (556-017);
· Oxford Heated Grips (Premium Adventure);
· Kaoko Throttle Lock (nice thing);
· Constands Center Stand (lovely);
· Some mirror extenders (aluminum from Motea);
· Ibex Skid Plate (looks more serious than the stock plastics);
· Denali D4 Aux lights + DataDim controller (plain awesome);
· Fuzeblocks FZ-1 (to power my fantasies);
· Ram Mount (need to put the phone somewhere).

Still considering:

· Scottoiler (should be good companion to the rest of setup)
· Front and Rear sliders
· ECU flash someday....

Think I've got some understanding on this bike and the costs of spare parts by now...

Since writing this up sourced Motowerk foot peg lowering kit and Garmin Zumo 396 to accompany me along the way

I'm glad the project turned out well. You must have worked hard on that and spent some considerable time getting the parts but it looks as good as new. Now you're ready for that northern Europe trip.
Seems very much like it was worth it.


So, I guess importing a bike that was in an accident was a lot cheaper than importing a new one or one that wasn't dropped?

In my father's country ( Ecuador ) I couldn't import a bike unless it is either a current model year or a year old. And, they put so much taxes on it that it doesn't make sense. New over there costs twice as much as in the U.S. People usually import something that's simply not available over there at all. There are few Versys if any in Ecuador. Maybe the motorcycle tour companies are some of the few that have them. It's a Versys-starved country and I feel sorry for them.

Do you have a YouTube channel or something similar?

Thanks!:) I’ve chosen importing due to 2 main reasons:
Lack of supply locally and unreasonable pricing.
The ones on supply are usually nearly dead bikes from other countries with unknown history.
In the ideal world it would’ve been cheaper to import and repair the bike, however due to a few unplanned part replacements I ended up on the same page. Benefit - known history and repairs carried out with OEM parts only, without sacrifices for quality
