Hello all,
New to the forum but I have had my Versys for maybe 9 months now. Got it last year for cheap, 09 for $5100 or so, $6000 out the door. Paid it off in 6 months, it's a bummer to have a bike payment.

This is an upgrade from a 97 BMW F650 1-banger I had. I just wanted something newer and with a bit more power. The Versys is less capable off-road but I don't ride off-road.

Anyway everything is good except for laying the thing down in a busy intersection last year (someone decided to go straight on the green left hand turn lanes right at me and I locked up the front brake).

If anyone possibly can, stay away from GE Capital financing for the Kawasaki payment plans. Use your own bank or credit union. I have NEVER encountered such a backwards stone age bank in my LIFE. I paid that sucker off as fast as I could.

Anyway good to be here and hope there are more riders in NM.

Thanks

--Todd

I just left a job that had me commuting from Los Alamos to Albuquerque and back every day. On the days where I could ride my Versys on State Road 14 all was well in the world. That will be one aspect that I will miss now that I will not make that commute.

What intersection was the scene of your incident? Perhaps I will try to avoid it.

That was Lomas and Eubank.. I was in the double turn lanes to go from south on Eubank to East on Lomas. Some old twit in an Exploder went northbound on Eubank straight at me when the left turn arrow went. I saw him out of my periphery coming at me and I locked up the brake and went down. Insurance will be a while trying to recoup cost of repairs..

I just drove Eubank from the Atomic Museum to Montgomery (where my sister's Staples is located) today. I am very glad that I do not have to ride on the streets of Albuquerque at rush hour. When I was commuting I managed to ride State Road 14 which allowed me to miss just about all of Albuquerque (since I worked on base).

Keep safe and enjoy your Versys.
