Noticed the other day after filling up the smell of gas. Looked to find a small amount leaking from the back left of the cap. A little backstory- I think the fuel overflow hole on the lefthand side of the tank mouth got clogged up with some crap. The other day after a hard rain I opened my tank to fill her and got a nice little splash of water. I looked and noticed the drain hole seemed clogged. It appears it was clogged with a bit of rust from the evap cannister release port on the righthand rear of the mouth. My theory is that the fuel overflow got clogged, and water collected in there. So here's my question- I've taken off the gass cap fully and cleaned out the area carefully. I removed the rust from the evap cannister port (hope I'm calling that by it's right name) and after taping everything up i plastidipd the area that had rusted. I read elsewhere that someone had a "full" evap cannister, which was causing their fuel leak. Is this possible in my case? Only other thing to note is that the tank was removed during a service lately to get at air filter.
