I'm pretty proud of each of them. When I brought this up over the winter, they each wanted to participate.

My kids pretty much have the world revolve around them. I work at a middle school and find that is the case with most other kids too. But, I also find that most kids (including my own) really don't mind giving up some time to help and usually enjoy it a lot. I think the problem is that they are infrequently called upon to do such things. Whenever the call goes out, kids show up to help. I really can't think of a time when a request for a community service project has gone unanswered.

Now, getting one of my own to cut the grass is an entirely different story ......
