Just spent 20 minutes digging out a bolt from my RAM mount that fell in my left fairing and wedged itself in a corner that made it both impossible to reach and immovable once I finally got a finger on it. How did it happen, you may ask? Well, I was loosening the mount to take off the holder part that had my GPS in it, and I loosened it too damn far. Before I realized it the whole thing just fell apart. Luckily the arm parts and the washers and wing nut fell through to the ground but my baby decided she would catch the bolt for me, and hold on real tight.

Anyway, have you guys ever dropped anything down there? Tight space...I was legitimately afraid after 10 minutes of trying that I might have to take the plastic off to reach it...

And BTW, this was after my first ride on the bike, just got it home 2 days ago. I love this thing! Went for an evening ride down A1A and man was it a blast! And she's even considerate enough to catch my hardware (hehe...) when it falls.

The fairings are very easy to take off and put back on, but note the nylon washers, etc. Don't over-tighten or you'll crack them (there's a thread photo on here somewhere) and don't use lock-tite as it tends to eat plastic. Don't let it scare ya!

I dropped one of those funky rubber nut things that attach the windscreen (2011 model) down in the fairing (on the second day I had her). Couldn't find it for the life of me. I gave up, went out for a ride, came back, took off the fairings and still couldn't find it. Who knows where it ended up...three of those nuts seems to hold on the windshield well enough.

I dropped my key one night and it never made it to the ground. Shook the hell out of the bike tossed it around trying to get the key to fall it never did. I always keep a spare on me so rode 30 miles home parked the bike and the next day in the sunlight i saw it in some of the wiring.

Yesterday after work my clip-on sunglasses slid off my gloves sitting on the tank and dropped into the left fairing when I started her. I knew it wasn't going to be good when they never hit the ground. Took a few minutes but I was finally able to spot and retrieve them.

It seems the good news is that stuff that falls into the fairing stays in the fairing. That's obviously clever Kawasaki engineering. :thumb:

It's better than having whatever it is blow out sometime during a ride - a problem with lesser bikes. Wonder how I know that? :D

Same here, I found it about a week later, The darn thing fell through the fairing, hit the ground and bounced behind a foot locker I have in the garage.

Screw. M8x30 or so. No idea where it went but it never hit the floor. That bike just ate the darn thing....

Wonder how long it will be before I quit worrying about that darn screw...??? :forgetit:

I've lost all kinds of **** in my bike working on it. It's a fun game. "Did it roll away or is it in my bike?"

But, they don't work with quarters. I don't think it's worth removing the fairing to get $0.25 -- it'll have to wait until the next time I need to remove the fairing.

Yup, SEVERAL times. Last was a hand-formed washer for my Yamaha Majesty windshield conversion (TWO sides ground to flats for behind the stock windshield mounts...) a week or two ago. I looked at the Green Hornet, thought about pulling off the side fairings, then got another 5/16 washer out and ground two flats into it. MAYBE 5 minutes, start-to-finish. :thumb:
