I Just put my deposit on a clear out '09. I almost got a wee-strom, but some of the opinions found here sold me on the Kawi. I am pumped! I thought I better get learned up, and where better to get info than from owners? I love the info on this site, and I frequently lol at some of the banter that gets going...
Are there any Edmontonians out there in versys-land? I am two weeks from riding, and going mental!!!

Hey Coughin,

I live in Edmonton and own a 2009 Versys (bought it new last year).

I take it you've had the bike out for a few rips? Nice choice on the Versys... I was in the same spot you were.... Wee Strom vs. Versys..... Versys trumped the Wee Strom, hands down.

Saw a Versys today at 5:00 p.m. on 109 st heading southbound, near Jasper Ave, black. Was that you by chance? I live downtown and ride all over Edmonton and northern Alberta. Head down to Calgary once in a while as well.

There are a few other AB riders as well... http://www.kawasakiversys.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3386&highlight=alberta+riders. We should try to get a group of us together sometime; last year we tried to organize a ride out in K-Country in late June, but everyone got sidetracked and it didn't pan out :( . Hopefully this year we can pull it off!

All over and done, and now 300 km on the dial. really starting to get a feel now, and boy is it fun to let those rpm's climb. I was/am surprised at the power this bike has, even while trying to limit my break-in revs. I am very happy with the choice I made, moondust metallic grey '09, motech crash bars, flipped and painted screen, de-stickered, chopped rear fender, de-reflectered, and all mine!!!!

I hope to meet up with you all this fall, I'm moving up to Leduc here this summer. It will be good to take a road trip with a few other Versys, maybe out to Jasper!

Albertajeff, I'm a Jeff too. Same name, same bike, same province. Same awesome-ness.
Keep me posted on your move, I'd love to meet a few locals to ride with and swap know-how with.
Throw-a-leg, I guess we can look past our edmonton-calgary B.S. in the name of the Versys...Do you mean BC, mountains, twisties, and good times? I'm in!

I'm just East of the 'chuck, by Elk Island National Park. Bought my Moondust Versys last May, now have over 6000 KM on it. My top 3 when I was looking last year (to replace my '86 VFR500) were the V-Strom 650, Versys and BMW F650GS. Nothing could beat the Versys for the money versus handling and performance.

I'm in St. Albert, and have regularly seen two other V's here. Bought an Orange 07 new in Sept. 08, and my riding buddy from Beaumont, bought the remaining new black 07 at the same time from Echo Cycle. I attended their track day at Stratotech Park last year with the V and it was fantastic day! Just installed a 44 tooth sprocket and Mike Shields touring shield and am iching to try everything out this weekend. My 03 BMW LT hasn't left the yard yet this year!

All this talk about how close everyone is makes me wonder if a group ride is in order in the near future :D?
