Looking for opinions on the best crash bars for protecting the leg in the event of a tip over or a slid. Looking for something that would give my leg some room between the bike and the street.

Thanks

My SW-Motech bars AND aluminum panniers saved my leg when I 'crashed' on the Dempster Hwy 100 kms S of Inuvik on 21 June....

That's the pannier on the left - it was torn off in the low-side (low-SLIDE???).

That's an excellent testimonial in my opinion. :thumb:

I bought a set of rebranded Dimotiv guards. They look like the HB guards but they have a bump out, that might protect your leg in a fall. I like it because I can rest my legs on top of them if I want to. They were $130 or so shipped off eBay, listed as R9.

Probably not the most "top notch" of what's out there, but They make a good leg rest and should work well if/when I drop this thing at a stand still. I'm really tip toed so I figure it's likely at some point.

They came straight from Malaysia and looked like they had been packed by a 6 year old. Each one in an open plastic bag tossed in a box with no padding of any sort. So some scratches on arrival likely.

I'm happy with the SW-Motech bars and BarkBusters Storm handguards although I haven't tested them like fasteddie and Twisted Throttle

I have dropped my Versys with both fitted 3 times at a standstill and the only damage was a slight scuff on the plastic handguards and a rash on the crash bars easily fixed.

I can understand how most of these crash bars can really protect the bike but can't really see how they would protect your leg. To me, the only crash bars I have seen that might really help protect the leg would be the Dimotiv bars because they have the piece that sticks out about 4 inches which might give the leg more room under the bike instead of being crushed under it. Just my humble opinion.

Hi, i want to know a good crash bars for the new Versys 2015, that protects the front turn signals? all the crash bars that I’ve found doesn’t protect them, and i know that in a fall the plastic part that holds the turn signals is going to break easily (it already happened to me)

That is from a Yamaha Majesty scooter (originally done by inmate - blipco), so I followed his lead, bought TWO, then modded as per the pics. The first shows the 'shield as modded, c/w all the pieces that I cut off, then one on EACH of my Vs (the green '09 has since 'died'...:crying:...), and MIGHT end up on the NEW 2015....
