I'm finding that (WHEN I remember to do this...) IF I pull in and release the clutch lever twice BEFORE putting it into 1st gear, the "clunk" is greatly reduced.
Your shift-lever MIGHT need adjusting....I am having issues with 4-3-2. I feel like I am stomping out a fire for some reason trying to get it to downshift. Took the bike to the dealer 2 weeks ago and ask the service manager to take it for a ride and see what he thinks. He came back and said what a fun bike I have to ride. What about the shifting???? Oh yah....No problem, it is fine and normal....don't worry about it.
Since I am at 330 miles on the bike I need to wait to 500 then put synthetic oil in it and see what happens...stay tuned.
I have ridden aprox.193,000 miles among the THREE V650s I've had (still have the '08 and '15 - the '09 was "written-off", making way for the '15)....But shifting is the first thing you got to do to get moving, and it is not fun to come back home with a bruised toe from all the hard shifting during the ride. Not fun....
... you posted a problem you were having, and we THOUGHT you were looking for advice on HOW TO FIX IT....I got me a new bike and started experiencing difficulties shifting up and down, so I decided to join this forum to see if it was just my luck or if other people were also experiencing....
...The important thing here is, to any new owner of a Versys that might stumble here, if you found this message, you are not imagining things, some Versys have real stiff gear boxes , plenty of other riders have experienced difficulties shifting the Versys and have commented on the issue, and my best advice, have your bike checked....
Quebecers DON'T make cognac, but the French DO, so a couple of stiff shots should lubricate your tongue enough to give it "traction".......anyone having difficulties with El Norte speak should contact Father Eduardo Fast, i'm sure he'll recommend an immersion treatment, even if it didn't work for him...comprender....
I don't know EXACTLY how old Dave (Mr jdrocks) is, but he's a good guy to listen to in referring to the V650, tho' I would advise AGAINST following his beer recommendations.......as a footnote, i've been running that often mentioned transmission taming oil for longer than Eduardo, and that makes it about 100 years in Canuck time, he's kinda old....
Nanya, nanya, nanya!well folks. we find that Father Eduardo Fast is a beer snob, and the chances of finding a Canuck beer snob on the face of the earth is now exactly 1/38,929,902.
