front sprocket pickup

odo pickup is on the front sprocket. any gearing changes from stock will alter distance traveled total. alot of people do change the ratios to make the speedo more accurate.

I believe the computer keeps track of the mileage not the gauge cluster itself. You should be able to swap gauges and still show the original mileage on bike. I don't think its very easy to mess with odometer.

I have seen speedos on Ebay that say "we can set the mileage to any number you request". So it must be easily changed with the right electronics.
