I've had mine 8 days 724 miles so far, a few short day trips and a 4 day week of commuting to work. Stayed in Iowa so far, a mix of gravel and tarmac (mostly tarmac) Sleepy towns, rivers, parks and every twisty road I can find. It's a great bike, excellent mileage, quick handling and comfortable. Now I'm waiting for my First Gear siverstone bags, tail, saddle and tank from Motorcyclesuperstore.com They had the best prices I could find with free shipping on orders over $75.00, They'll be here Wed 7/9. Will post pics when they're installed. Does anyone else have any experience with the First Gear siver stone series of products?

Great Pics

Great pics I am interested in seeing pics of the bags on the bike also. Keep them comming. :clap:

Fawn

I just happened to be stopped with the V shut off for a few minutes when the fawn decided to come out and cross the road. It took it's time doing so like it was in no particular hurry so I got 5 shots of it. Pretty cool huh. Deer sightings in Iowa are pretty common anyway but a fawn that still has its spots are harder to come by. I will post pics as soon as I get the V outfitted with the luggage, thanks, Larry

Romp on it a lil once in a while, it's good for it. ;) I tried to take it easy for the first 1000 miles, following the manuals break in procedure, but I did make sure to get on it from time to time, to seat the rings. Now that my 1000K is done, I can let it rev a lil higher through the turns etc. 5-8K rpm she really sings.

You bet I have, a certified Kawasaki mech said it wouldn't hurt to crank it up from time to time but just to spike it to 7G's or so for the first 500 miles, also that the most important thing was to vary the R's, so I did just that. After 500 I have spiked it a little higher and you're right she comes alive between 5K and 9K er...uh I mean 8K. However it has only been short burst over 6K for the next 500. I am 48 yrs old and have owned around 30 bikes (I have literally lost count) bikes of all kinds, hence the nickname Motojunkie, including 14 Harleys which I still have a Road King, It doesn't get much riding these days. I've had everything from pure MX's before and after getting a license, Enduros including 2 KLR650's and 2 old DT Yamaha's a '74 250 and a '73 360, 2 Triumphs a '67 Bonnie chopper and a '68 Tiger standard, a '73 Honda 450 DOHC. Believe it or not 8 Yamaha 650 twins all were 650 Specials (great bikes btw) except for 1 '73 standard, 2 more Choppers built from scratch one a Harley Ironhead and a 68 BSA Goldstar twin. I've been around. Most of my experience as you probably noticed is with "seasoned" machines of earlier vintage. This is only my second brand new bike the first being my '07 KLR and I have never owned a "crotch Rocket". Now I know the Versys is not a "sport bike" in the strictest sense due to it's long travel and upright positioning. But I have never had such an excellent handling machine with this kind of real world usable power so well matched to the size and weight of the bike. Sure I've had more powerful bikes but this is practical, usable torque and HP. Not too much but not too little and certainly all I need, what a great little package it is. If I had known sport oriented bikes were this much fun I'd have bought one long ago. I must admit until I bought the Versys the most fun bike so far will be the '07 KLR. My poor old Harley is now sitting neglected in my garage, I kind of feel sorry for it and may take it out for a sympathy ride next weekend if I can squeeze it in..

Where at in Iowa?

I am near Dubuque Iowa and there are some great roads here and can ride for miles an not pass another car or tractor. Deer are a problem. Like you i have had many bikes over my 61 years but had the 650R so knowthe motor well and so enjoyable. Traded it for a big 1600 classic cruiser but after a short time i miss the power out of the corners and quick handleing so traded it yesterday for the Vesys. Just waiting to lower it for my 29" inseam and warm weather. You will love this motor once it is broke in. Is why i came back to it. Now i have the slow break in to do also. It is boreing. Just looking for the upright position now that i am physically older. Still young in the mind.
