Well, because one person demanded it (Hammy), here it is....Day 1 of Big Trip 2010! It's a long weekend here in Canada so I hope to get started on Day 2 before I head back to work next week.

This year's videos are 90% HD, so be sure to watch it in 1080 resolution. I hope you like it.

Fantastic documentary - I will be looking back at some of you older videos. We do a big trip every year but never have the great video like you. Thanks for sharing. Let me know if you guys are ever in Calgary.

Thanks Hammie/Whitey Jr.

Get the popcorn ready Throw_a_leg, these two chaps do excellent video and commentary....you simply must see last years installments....time consuming yet worth every minute. Much work and effort put into these productions but the results are fantastic!:):cheers:

Wow, Thanks G-pa Ron, that is very high praise and we're happy for the ringing endorsement. We'll have much more HD content this year compared to previous years. We're excited about the results, but also are having equipment problems. Whitey for instance has had two camera go on him this year. I have been luckier and only had one go. I guess it helps us stay current with technology though ;)

Ya, thanks for the comments guys, we really appreciate them. I had a few audio issues with Youtube recently, so this episode is actually a few days late going up. Hope you like it!

Throw_a_leg, unfortunately I never made it to Cow-town this year, other than tearing up the Deerfoot once on the last day of BT2010. Be sure to drop me a note if you find yourself north.

Thanks for all the responses guys, keep 'em coming! I've been tied up with a few other projects lately, so unfortunately this one took a little longer to finish up. Hope you like it!

Thanks again for the responses guys, it means a lot. Sorry for the delay, but I had a few PC issues and had to totally replace a few hard drives. Hopefully the turnaround for Day 5 won't be as bad. Hammy and I both plan on getting our files together by tomorrow or Sunday, and then it's just a matter of finding some time to sit down in front of the editor (with a few rums ;) ). Anyway...Here's day 4, the day we reached the coast.

Entertaining.

Having spent 35 years in the NW, had to chuckle a bit...

By the end you had the pronounciation for Anacortes right. The 'cortes' part sounds the same as the sea of 'cortez' with the accent on 'cor'. ;)

As far as I know, the steamed scallops you got are only to be had in the San Juans. I have never seen them steamed in the shell anywhere else in the country. The resturant at the ferry dock on San Juan Island also offers them, I was even suprised you found them in Anacortes. And there are a lot of those silly 'taverns' and WA has some weird liquor laws, state-run liquor stores, and I still don't think you can buy liquor on Sundays unless you go into a licensed bar and order a drink. The kids head to BC after they're 18 as you can legally drink up there. Burlington/Anacortes is only about 30 miles from the border.

Spokane and most of Idaho we used to call podunk. Or 'the sticks'. And the people aren't too bright either. (no offense to any residents :D). Kind of like Oklahoma, west Texas, etc. And it does rain. You were damn lucky it didn't rain the whole trip over to the coast. Seattle only gets 100 days of sunshine a year.

BTW, it's not the 'ocean', it's the 'sound'. Puget Sound. The ocean is about 80 miles to the east. But it's okay, you guys are from Canada.

(I am too, born in Vancouver)

It looks like you made it to Cap Sante Marina, or maybe the marina on Guemes Channel. The islands in your near view are the dungeness crab spawning grounds as part of the Skagit River delta. We used to anchor out there and catch them by the dozens, boil them up on board, and feast on fresh crab. I had a boat at Skyline Marina for several years, it's just out past the ferry terminal as you head east out of town.

Neat story. Awaiting the next segment. If you ever come south to CA would love to meet up for few miles.

Chris,
Hey, I'm a prairie boy, any body of saltwater bigger than a pot of perogies is the ocean as far as I'm concerned ;) My folks split their time between AZ and north CA, so if we ever make it down there for a visit, we'll give you a ring! Still waiting on Hammy for a few files, but once I get them Day 5 should be up in short order.

Thanks again for following along!! Today Hammy and I passed another milestone, and spoke for the first time about BT2011. We had our first real planning session and talked a bit about direction. Not surprisingly, Yellowstone came up again (a perrenial favorite) but no idea on timing yet. If the last 3 years are any indication, our route/destination will change at least 3 times between now and departure. anyway...Day 6 is done and posted, hope you like it.
