Hi Guys;

I'm from Istanbul - Turkey... I've been riding motorcycles for 6 years now, started with a small 100cc Speedfight scooter, than a maxi scooter Piaggio X8, and finally my first real bike was a Kawasaki ER6-N which I was in love, (still think that it was my sexiest / wildest looking bike!)

In time I switched to Honda CBF600 - BMW R1200 GS - Honda CBF1000 and now I think I'm falling for Versys 1000 :roll eyes:

That's how I found this site, researching on the internet! I hope I can learn from you, and maybe my experience might help some of you guys...

Best Regards...

Hang tight!!

Before telling you the retail price of a new Versys 1000, I need to have enough build up, so that you don't get a stroke or something... :D

First of all, I live in such a ***** country that the total taxes applied to a motor vehicle is %80 of it's own price...

That being said, the price of a base (with no accessory at all) 2012 model Versys 1000 in Turkey is 14,500 Euros :eek:

Thanx guys...

By the way I tried to write a message to the support - suggestions - feedback part about the addition of a new category for the Versys 1000... But I think I'm not yet authorized for it?? cuz somehow the system didn't let me.

Actually I wasn't even write a new thread, I would like to support one that is already mentioned..??

Posting on that thread should work now, you've just gotta get a few posts in on the newbie thread first. A category for the 1000 is a good idea, but seeing as most folks on this thread are in the USA and we don't get that bike (yet?), maybe not gonna happen. As a source of information for the 650Versys and as a forum for questions about gear, and riding in general this is an excellent site.

Welcome to the forum. :welcome:

I have to say that riding a motorcycle in Intanbul is a very brave thing to do in my opinion. I lived in Turkey for two years (1974-75) and, at that time, the city was full of what appeared to be absolutely crazy drivers.

Perhaps because I was an infidel (and still am for that matter) and not protected by Allah my belief that I would be immune to accidents was more than a little lacking. I hope you're better at navigating the traffic than I was. :D

The Versys 1000 won't be in the states this year. So myself and i'm sure some others are really jealousy right now. So any info on the V 1000 will have to come from folks like you that are lucky enough to be somewhere thier available.:)

Versys 1000 is supposed to be available in NZ from April with price unknown yet but will be around price of Z1000SX/Ninja 1000 with ABS at $23,000 NZ or $18,800 US. I am considering trading my SX in and having two Versys but not a fan of the colour so may wait and see what they release next year.

Update, just checked out Kawasaki NZ web site and the price is up $22,445 NZ or $18,400 US

Before you decide on the V1000, try the V650 first. I've ridden my friends KTM SMT, Ducati Monster, but the V650 still is the most comfortable bike and handles really well. Doesn't have the power of a liter bike but has good fuel mileage.

There's something about the looks of the V1000 that I find it uninteresting. If the V1000 came out looking like a Triumph Explorer, I would be tossing and turning in bed just dreaming about it. For me, the V1000 styling is forgettable. The front view just doesn't look right.

To be honest, to buy a bike, I look %90 percent to the spec sheet and the reviews, and the rest %10 is cosmetic.. And since it's acceptable, I don't care much :)

also, what can I do if there are no such bikes that satisfy my needs as good as V1000? I mean of course there are other alternatives, but price can be a deal breaker too (such as tiger explorer 1200, Ducati Multistrada)

PS: by the way "not 2 cylinder" is a must! inline 4 preferred, 3 cylinder acceptable if its triumph ;)
