*assuming* cam chain noise

Hi all,

I have a 2012 Versys 650. I am from South Africa.
Bike was recently sent in for 2 valve replacements and seats due to 6mm cap screw on chaine guide that went into my valves.

I have had the bike back for about 2 months and recently started hearing a noise on the right side of the bike, like a clapping/knocking sound. This happens as soon as the bike starts warming up.
I am not sure if i am using the wrong oil - can someone advise which is the right oil?

Thank you so much!

Welcome to the forum from Texas. Here's a link to a free owners manual at the bottom of the page, It is from the USA but will cover your oil and quantities along with basic owner needs

Welcome from GA !

Good luck with the sound ... unlikely the oil is causing the sound (unless you used something not designed for engines at all!) 10W40 MA designated oil is standard ... other options as per the manual (that @Axel Johansson posted above !).

Cam chain .. maybe, but that should have been noticed (or could have been caused by?) the shop that did the valve job ?

My first thought would be taking it back to the shop that did the valve replacements... see if they would help out ?
