Found this test on the Internet. Interestingly less than 50% of people asked could answer these questions.

1) Name a country that starts with the letter "U"?
2) What is the religion of Israel?
3) Who won the Vietnam war?
4) How many sides does a triangle have?
5) What religion are Buddhist monks?
6) What is the currency used in the United Kingdom?
7) Who is Fidel Castro?
8) What city is the national capital of Canada?
9) Is present day China Capitalist or Communist?
10) What does the word republic mean as in the Republic of the United States of America?
scroll down for answers......

1) United States of America, Uruguay, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Uganda, etc.
2) Jewish, a large number of respondents said Muslim or Islamic
3) North Vietnamese, if you said the US you probably watch too much Fox news
4) 3
5) Buddhist
6) Pound
7) Until recently president of Cuba, if you said Latin American pop singer give yourself 0 on this test
8) Ottawa
9) Capitalist
10) A republic is a government that does not have a monarch. If you confused democracy with republic give yourself 0 on this test and consider returning to night school to get your high school equivalency. Just in case you're still confused the US is a republic (because it does not have a King or Queen) and a democracy (because the government is publicly elected). Commonwealth countries like Australia and Jamaica are examples of Democratic Monarchies. China is a republic but not a democracy.

What about Uzbekistan for an answer for #1? My cousin worked there as a geologist in oil production there for years. :)

not sure about the fox news crack, but who cares what the capitol of Canada is? it's not like they play in the world much.
It's because we blend in. We look, talk and dress exactly like you. You'll never know if we are among you. That guy in line next to you that you thought was from Connecticut, the guy getting cheese and gravy on his fries... (sound of evil, maniacal laugh) :D

Many of your national newscasters, Hollywood stars, etc. are Canadian and well, this is embarrassing, so is Justin Beiber.

If you saw these questions on Facebook, they're probably there for like/share farming. Not long ago a large number of posts started appearing with the theme "Name a _____ beginning with the letter _. N% of people cannot answer this." Of course they were all incredibly easy to answer. As it turns out, people would create a Facebook account, use those questions to farm a ton of likes and shares (because everyone wants to share when they've discovered they're smarter than N% of people), and then sell the account with the shares and likes already accumulated to a company or organization who just changes the content around. The pre-seeded profiles would come up higher in searches because they seem like more popular accounts.

Now I could see how some of those questions would lead to a large number of wrong answers (Republic vs. Democracy being the big one), but I would take the 50% number with a grain of salt.

It is common for foreigners to think that Toronto is Canada's capital. It is the province of Ontario's capital...

Language barrier?

Blending in, indeed, until someone begins to discuss the game of "hawkey" or just wants to go "aout." And never request American cheese ("Eh?") on the sandwich you order at the Subway shop in "Tunder" Bay, Ontario. After all these years of blending in, we are yet separated, hardly divided, by our common language.
