So I ride the fastest of all Versys's - the red '08. I have just coming up on 30k miles on the bike so it gets ridden relatively regularly. I still have the original battery.

Is anyone else in a similar situation? Should I consider replacing my battery as a precautionary measure, or should I see how long it can last?

Mine is still on the original battery, but the thought of replacing it has crossed my mind. I'll probably swap it out at the end of this year or the beginning of next year, likely for an AGM replacement.

You guys who have long lasting batteries must keep them charged. In my experience running down a battery to 11v causes it to fail

My original 2007 Yuasa made in China is still good too. I charge it once in a while with my desulfator. I did open it to add a bit of distilled water in a cell once. My sitting voltage is still at 12.5.

My original burnt orange 08 is still going but I think its a 2007 according to stamp but in NZ it was registered new as a 08. Never taken the battery out over winter to store it yet and its never gone on a trickle charge.

I am glad to know that I am not alone in depending on an old battery.

I ride sporadically through the winter depending on the condition of the roads. Sometimes - not very regularly - I use my battery charger on the battery and it sometimes performs its desulfating routine.

Your October 2007 built Australian green Versys is a 2008... My Canadian burnt orange 2007 was made in late 2006, and so is kiwi 41's NZ Versys.

I guess things get pretty confusing down under where seasons are reversed from default! :surprise:
