Yep, another noob going to be lurking and at times showing my Versys ignorance...

Live in Charlottesville, VA and will be picking up a new 2016 Versys 1000 LT in Goblin Green (OK, Candy Lime Green) tomorrow from Village Motorsports in Unionsville, VA... Really looking forward to that becoming my main, do anything, take me anywhere steed. I presently have a 2011 Suzuki V-Strom 650 ABS that I am realizing is not exactly the bike my size and occasional 2UP riding needs.

Why the Versys 1000 LT? It was actually my second choice. My first was a Yamaha Super Tenere ES, but that bike was just too darn TALL for me. But the Versys 1000 fit me just right! What sold me over the 650 Versys was the seat! Mucho better seat, especially for passenger. Also the POWER! Would have loved to have the electronic suspension control of the Tenere, but alas, can't have everything (without buckets of $$$ for a BMW).

Speaking of BMW, I almost bought an 2009 RT1200 tour bike. It was used and totally accessoried out. But I am glad I didn't, it is just too big for what I need and want. The Versys is the sport bike for adults... LOL!

Anyways, there is my intro. See you in the forums.

:welcome: aboard!

You did buy the RIGHT color...!

My '09 (which had an "unfortunate" 60 miles S of where this pic was taken, and was written-off once I rode it home)

and its replacement, my '15 650LT (which made it back just FINE, and is still running - :thumb: - :thumb:)....

I hope to do an Alaska ride on a motorcycle one day, but Virginia is a long way away. Maybe start with the Smokey Mountains... lol!

I picked up my 2016 Versys 1000 LT Green Goblin today! WOW!!!! Seriously wow! It is so much smoother and more refined than my 2011 Suzuki V-Strom. The Versys was like a Maserati luxury sports car, smooth, quick and nimble, and LOADS of power at the twist of the wrist. Made my V-Strom feel like a buzzing chainsaw on beat up shocks. It really was that much of a difference! I am so impressed so far and glad I went into debt to do it (weird, i know, but YOLO)...
