I have received and installed my new Algard guard.
It is just about as high quality as aftermarket bike kit gets in my experience. It comes with a CD showing a set of photos of all stages of the easy installation. It is dead accurate with precision stainless steel brackets and bolts and fitted together perfectly with no drilling or filing of holes.
It even has a small tube of lock-tite.
I think it looks just fine on the bike but my wife (non-biker) reckons it looks better than standard.
It will provide all the protection for the pipes and air-filter that you could wish for against flying stones etc on gravel roads and trails, but it doesn't turn the Versys into a dirt-bike. Big impact underneath on rocks etc would still damage the silencer box. I consider the air-flow provision is quite good enough to keep the lower engine, pipes and silencer/catalyst cool.

Dont hesitate guys. If you want to continue riding when the tarmac ends, like I do, get one fitted before the spring.

Thanks...

Thanks for the report I have been waiting on someone to belly up to the bar and buy one. I will be ordering one next week as I believe this will suit my riding just right.

Dude, what the hell happened to your scoot? The scrapes and the general untidiness (dirt) lends me to the conclusion that you either got into an accident or do a lot of off road riding.
PS. Nice guard though.

Yes it's a bit sad isn't it.
It slid down the road in Slovenia in September and did remarkably little damage considering no crash bars. The plastics are next on the list to be repaired. I will try repair before buying new. I pressure washed it but haven't degreased cleaned and polished it yet. Yes it does look very dirty in the photo. I did a fair bit of trails and gravel roads thats why it got so dirty. Great trip though. That's why I am going to all this trouble to sort out the protection and suspension.
Did you notice the Versys special stand made to the design of one of this Forum's members. Also waiting a coat of paint. It's all go!
