G'Day V Bikers,

Plan to make a simple mod for the V two air intakes.
As we know, the V produces a lot of heat.
My take is the present intakes which is above the engine suck in hot/warm air.

The idea is a sort of air duct to suck in cool air in front of the radiator.
For now the Hepco and Becker top engine guard is blocking the air flow and need to be modified. Sorry not able to show in pics as working.

This is an idea and Appreciate any inputs...:yeahsmile:

Guys, I think what he's talking about is a cold-air intake, not something to do with personal comfort.

Well my first idea is not to live right on the equator.:yeahsmile:

As for actually ducting cold air in, I hadn't really looked at it but I suspect youre going to have a hard time finding a place to put a duct.
Maybe direct it back under the seat?

Invader has a great idea. He used a piece of aluminum bar. bent it 90 degrees at either end, and replaced the HB X-Bar. So in essence, the new bar became a collector rather than a block.

I'll look for a link.

That twisted aluminum crossbar also saved about a pound... There isn't enough room for airbox ducts on top of engine and above radiator, but I did replace the airbox's 1-1/2" ID inlets with 1-7/8" ID (56% more surface area) reinforced rubber hose, grooved to fit snuggly in the airbox's stock rounded rectangular holes, and heat insulated the portion that sits over engine valve cover.
My Pipercross filter is also less restrictive than stock, and I did some smooth-matching work on the TB rubber flanges. Some steps were big enough and causing some fuel pooling: Airbox Mod

Thanks, Guys and Shatrat for pointing out what I meant.

It's just an idea and have identified the parts needed.
Have done this for my ex-BM and will do it if I have the time.
Also have the DNA filter to put on for less restrictive airflow.
Idea is cooler air would give it a few ponies (Theoretical).
Average daily temperatures here range from 70 to 90 F.

Another concern here from V bikers are rectifier failures.
Maybe too much warm air blowing pass the rectifier cooling fins.
I think there is also a place for this. For now, happy the onboard voltmeter can sense any problems with the V charging system.
