Air Filter - 2020 V650

Unless you're on a lot of dirt your wasting your time. That filter is good for more like 40,000 miles just like your car. Even if it was a bit dirty they (all filters) work best at 50% dirty and the fuel injection allows for the restriction.

Recommended valve adjustment is at 15K, you'll be there then so replace it at that time or the following time if it's not that dirty

I cleaned my air filter after 5K. It was a bit dirty. Depends where you ride. I have not clean country so need to clean air filter more often.

JMHO, but, those plugs are designed for at least 50,000 miles. Why waste $ and time changing them.

The service guide recommended changing the spark plugs at 7,500 miles.

I've removed/replaced plugs whenever I "do" my valves.

FWIW - they have NEVER looked worn-out, however my Mazda P5 has very similar-looking plugs, and my wife was complaining that the car would NOT maintain the speed in CRUISE CONTROL in a hilly area near Kelowna, so I replaced the plugs (which did NOT look worn-out) and NOW the car will easily climb that same hill in 'cruise'.

My TAKE - you can NOT tell anything on those plugs by looking! They're cheap enough to just REPLACE whenever you're 'in there'.

When you "do" the valves, do you take your 650 to the dealer, or do you do them yourself? If the dealer gets involved, is that a major cost? I'm at about 8,500 mi on a 2008 "big red" of my own in the Pacific NW USA, and I wonder how much of my farkel account will be used up by service when the time comes when I reach the 15k point.

It appears you have ten more years to worry about it.

Maybe you can hook up with @fasteddiecopeman when he's back in BC, he might be bored and want something to do 😉

IF you get the SERVICE MANUAL, and the necessary TOOLS to 'do' the valves - you will spend LESS than getting it done by a dealer, and can do it MULTIPLE times, as necessary, and (probably) BETTER!

I believe that I have done it about 8 to 10 times on my '08, '09, and '15 V650s.
