I’m looking to get an aftermarket exhaust (I just want it louder, not looking for power increases) and noticed there are a lot more options for the 2015+ bikes. Do these newer full system exhausts fit older versys?

Not a clue, but take the current muffler off and ride it once. I doubt there is any noise there for a new muffler to muffle.
I know my 15 Versys 1000 had none.

I tried that once and it was obnoxiously loud, there’s no cat or resonator before the muffler so it’s just an open header. I’m just looking for something reasonably loud with a nice tone to it.

I see you have 2008 year model V650

If you don't have problem with legality of exhaust, you have Delkevic exhaust. Some are street legal, some are not street legal.

Try Yoshimura , nice sound on the exhaust. Not too laoud and within the legal limit of 85db.
