Hello fellas,

Here is another photo-story from today's ride.

We had a record setting rain fall this past weeks. For days and days rain didn't stop nor subside. Every river raised to maximum ever recored and a large lake began to flood suburban areas. My house is also on the river bank and should've the rain continued for another day it could have been scary.
It stopped 10cm short of the 6m wall that separates us. And this is a river that is dry 3 months per year.
Here is how it looked one morning.

Notice the water line behind the stone wall.

Today was the first sunny day and I had make use of it. I headed towards the are that was struck the worst but even 3-4 days after the rain, road was still flooded and only big, six-wheel trucks could go trough. I turned around and followed a river that runs trough deep canyon. Even this one was enormous in places and I had a few very fun water-crossings. Too bad no one was around to take pictures. I must have looked bad-ass. It was short and entreating ride. I didn't manage to take pictures of the flooded areas but I did try include as much water as I could to stay within the theme.

Cheers.

Hello I have seen your posts before. Could you give us a Google map link to the general area you live. When I search for Balkan it shows the whole Balkan peninsula showing several countries. I for one love travel and other cultures. Those pictures give me an idea about the terrain you live. Very interesting.

Thank you fellas.

I caught the 'Ride Report' bug over at AdvRider and I'm very grateful to people who bring me areas and cultures that are far away and unfamiliar. I learned a lot and have been entertained so with this I try to give back.
I wouldn't call this photos very serious or professional. I have yet to start to cary serious equipment, devote more time and walk around more to get better shots. Parking the bike, taking off helmet, gloves, earplugs, unpacking photo-gear etc. is time consuming but I enjoy it when I have the opportunity.

Cmoreride,

These photos are from this area:
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=podgorica,+cijevna&sll=42.442575,19.268646&sspn=0.27109,0.617294&g=Podgorica+81000,+Montenegro&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Cijevna,+Montenegro&t=p&ll=42.352455,19.323578&spn=0.542957,1.757813&z=10

Country is Montenegro and I'm in the capital, Podgorica.
Entire Balkan peninsula is of similar geography with a few exceptions. I prefer uninhabited and wild places over developed and urban. As people migrate to big cities there are areas where people haven't stepped in decades.
Whole region is stabilized now and is opening up more and more to western tourists so you are very welcome to visit.

Cheers.

I am glad to hear that you avoided any damage from the floods! Very nice photos! It seems that these forums visited by crazy motorcyclist do a lot to bring people and cultures together! Thanks for posting.
