When I put a 44 tooth rear sprocket on my new '09 will I need to take any links out of the stock chain (so I can order a new master link ahead of time), or can I just move the axle back enough ?

TIA

I put a 44 on at 15,000 km and currently at 22,000km so no problem with chain and still have plenty of adjustment left.

Thanks again for the replies.

I don't want to lose the neato mid range/traffic oomph but want to relax the mill a little and wouldn't mind an accurate speedo reading either.

Yeah, 44T is pretty much perfect overall (+4.54% over stock gearing).
43T (+6.98%) gives you an accurate speedometer, but is a bit overkill in most conditions.
I'm running a 45T, but with a taller Conti Trail Attack 150/70 rear tire (+~5%).
I won't mind going down to +2.22% though, with 160/60 Pirelli Scorpion Trail and my 45T...
