Hello, I am having trouble connecting to the accessory sockets on the 2015 model. The sockets/plugs etc are located under the left hand front fairing. They are easily accessible by removing some electrical tape. Anyhow, the manual states White/Blue stripe is + and Black Yellow stripe is -
I cannot seem to get any voltage from either connection no matter which way I try the multi meter. I have the bike running and I have checked the 5A fuse. I also tried the heated grips plug to no effect either. Surely these should just work out of the box without fiddling?

Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this? Bike is brand new!

Is that the oem kawasaki one? Mine was just delivered today, looking at the one page instructions shows that it's one connection. I'll be putting it on this weekend. Will let you know what happens.

I am only trying to plug some LED's spotlights in to the bullet male/female connectors but no luck with power. I don't have the heated grips or genuine LED lights. In any case it seems there is no power, one would "assume" you can plug and play? Do I have to connect something else??

try probing with multimeter....

earth the black lead, then use the red positive lead to poke around the connector of the accessory socket to see if one is live.

Maybe one of the connectors is NOT an earth/ground/negative wire.

Ah, I thought you were talking about the oem accessory power outlet. I am also planning on installing the oem fog lights sthis weekend so if I run into any thing I'll post it. Unfortunately I'm so average when it comes to electronics so it won't be very detailed.:)

I have tried with a multimeter. But I did not earth the black lead. If it's not earthed well....manual is wrong! Stranger things have happened, I'll try.

Good luck with the install, hopefully it all works fine for you!

The circuit requires a relay to get power to leads. Go to service manual to get info. K sells a relay kit but really all is needed is the relay and tie wrap. Relay is common relay used by K.

My local dealer cannot find the part. The relay looks to be for the 12volt cigarette lighter type socket accessory. The fog lights and led appear to be on a different circuit. I cannot find where a relay is required for them.

The place to start would be to do a search for the accessory relay in the technical threads. There are several threads on the subject, being a bear of small mind & weak I.T. kung fu, can't attach a link.

I'm pretty sure at least on the gen 2's there is a switched relay already in the circuit shown in the wiring diagram so there should be power at those leads when the ignition is on. The black/yellow is the ground and the other is 12v+.

On the 2nd Gen you have to buy the relay kit and it then plugs in and you will have power with the key on. I'd bet the 3rd gen is the same.

The kawasaki.com.au website show that the 2014 model needed the relay kit but the 2015 model doesn't list it as necessary.

They should and they do on my 2015 Thou ... The Positive bullet had the Long cover (female connector from memory) .. don't want to sound like a smart arse, but have you checked that your multi is working ? .. have you tried hooking up the lights to the connections.?.

I have added aftermarket Aux power and Oxford Grips to the OEM connections with zero issues.

Good luck
