Well, Kawi fixed almost everything I didn't like about my 2009 Versys. Does anyone have the inside scoop on the invoice price for a 2012 Versys? Thanks, that black and yellow one is calling my name. :cool:

And the headlight, mirrors and pegs, but they did that in 2010. That was a cool bike, not that we got many here in the states. They broke the color in in 2011, at least for me.
They did add rubber bushings at some motor mounts, however the engine is the same parallel twin as it's always been. Not everybody's cup of tea, but Kawi saw fit to "Versyfy" the engine on the Ninja650 when they completely revamped that bike this year.
I'm not sure what the invoice price is on the '12's. Kawi was massively over-stocked on the '09's and it's unlikely that they'll put themselves in that pickle again.

:goodluck:just bought a 2012 in solar yellow and black at the beginning of march. sticker was $7,999. but there are other charges. I didn't mind its cheaper than the BMW and a Harley. it was worth it, what a pretty bike. the yellow has metal flake in it. no idea what the invoice is though.

apparently, Kelley blue book official motorcycle guide has loan codes and invoice prices in the back. the last issue is from January of this year. it won't have 2012 prices in it but it will have 2011 prices and that will get me close enough. BTW, it costs $20 and should be here by next Monday. I'll let you guys know if there is any good info in it.

If someone worked at a dealer and shared confidential info on the internet they would get fired if caught, not to mention they would be a scum bag employee. Besides, only the owner knows what he really paid for a bike. Get the best deal you can and just buy the bike, life is short.

Check the Costco "members" buying service.

they did real well by me for my '11. I think the base-$ amount went up about 500$ between '11 and '12. Same stuff, different colors.

Agreed. Everyone needs to find the best deal they can but we have to remember that we can't enjoy our passion for motorcycles if we don't support the dealers that get them for us. Buying a new Versys through Amazon isn't really an option, nor should it be.

I find it unacceptable the motorcycle dealers list a price for a bike but don't specify the exact $ for prep etc. in the same listing.

There was a great price on cycletrader for a Yamaha FJR from a local dealer two months ago. I told them I would buy it at that price but not pay for prep they didn't specify in the listing. No sale.

For one bike I bought, the dealer had $50 for tire sealant down on my form. Since I was questioning every line item, he fessed up that they don't actually add tire sealant but will credit you $50 if you have a flat.

If you order a Harley, some dealers will let you get a full refund of your deposit if you change your mind. However, if you asked for dealer-installed accessories, they charge you a 10% restocking fee, even if it is for an on the shelf item.

Dealers have to make a living and stay in business. It is also a supply and demand type thing. If you want a discount participate in Kawi demo rides and contests. Buy all your accessories at the time of purchase and negotiate a discount on them.

Bikes aren't like cars where the dealer makes most of his money on used vehicles and service. Many avid motorcyclists do their own maintenance and minor repairs because that is part of the enjoyment of owning a motorcycle. Most car owners do not.

As long as I know I am getting a better deal than you, then I am OK with the dealer making some money. :)

No idea if this is really true or not but the sales manager where I bought my '08 said that the $5500 paid OTD was the actual cost to them and they were just getting it out of inventory to quit paying floor plan interest. MSRP was about $7200 IIRC??? The actual cost of the bike was less than $5000 before tax and state fees. Do not know if Kawi was giving a "kickback" at the time?? Either way, there has to be over a thousand bucks in dealer profit in the MSRP??

Ok looking at all you comments I really feel I am at the wrong place. Here the costs are very different. I could not find and add with the price for the Versys 650 but you have to trust me the 2012 costs about 14.900 usd below you can see the link of a used Versys 1000 the brand new cost about 24.000 usd so as you can see it is expensive. I bought mine 2012 with 350 km for 13.200 usd. If I where there I could have 2. Different realities.

Bought mine in Sept 2012

Picked up a new 2012 in September of 2012 for $6749.00. Came to $7288.14 out the door (tax included) Bought from Honda East of Toledo, Ohio. They had the best pricing I could find within a 2 hour drive.

I ended up getting a 2012 DL650 last spring right when they landed on our shores. I really like it. The bags are huge, possibly a bit too big. I have a tendency to drag them in corners. Thanks for the message, Shifty!
