I have a question for you?? Does anyone think the new rubber engine mount modification reduces vibration sufficiently to opt to buy a 2010 Versys over an older model. I haven't got my full licence yet, so can't ride one to find out.

2010 Versys vibration

I've never ridden a 2010, but my 2009 is very smooth. No noticeable vibes anywhere in the RPM range.Vibration is just not a factor, so go for an '09 or '08 and save some money. I got my '09 brand new 3 monthe ago for $5399 plus sales tax.

Vibration? What vibration? Don't spend the extra money on account of it. I like the styling of the older models.

If the price diference is $50 buck, maybe it's worth it

Otherwise, don't make your choice only on this issue

Further more, there are solution to reduce vibs AND they do reduce down with time and millage

I'm with the others - make your decision based on $. Don't really notice vibes on my '08 (OR on my KLR, so maybe my opinion is suspect...). For $50 go w/ the '10; for LOTS more $ difference - buy NEW older one and "farkle" the H*LL out of it. :goodidea:

2010 is fine not experienced the 2009 except sitting on it and found it less comfortable,
I prefferr the 2009 tank and screen but still feel that I have made the right choice with the 2010 ( it looks more stylish and better)which was discounted and not much more than the 09 on offer.

I got the 09 last weekend for ~$2000 less than the 2010 would cost me. No dilemma here. I am going to spend the 2K on accessories :)

I have a 2010 V I ride in WV. I have a 2009 V I ride in NJ. Both are great. I find the 2009 V to be a little smoother than the 2010 V, but the 09 V has 3000 miles on it and the 10 V only 800 miles. Both bikes got smoother as they got more miles.

I have found no evidence that the rubber engine mount has made anything smoother. Go for the least expensive new bike.

Thanks to those of you that replied to this, albeit, repeated thread. I did do a search and found some threads before I posted this one. I didn't find much but I guess it depends what search strings you use. As it happens ScottyNeal has been able to update us on the 09 and 10 Vs with more mileage under their belts, so maybe it has been useful.

Does anybody make rubber motor mounts for the Versys yet?

My 10's smooth. Hated the mirrors - replaced with Motowerks extensions and cheap Emgo mirrors (Emgo Mark II, from Dennis Kirk, about $12 each). No cowling buzz noted.

I tested '10 Versys before I bought '07 V with 4'400 km, and never recognized any vibration difference. Since I changed from a single to the V, it is much more comfortable than anything I was used to. So never bother about the rubber. The '10 model only has the "nicer" appearance.

Not ridden an older V, but my 2 month old 2010 is settling in nicely. It's got 1485 miles on it now. The clocks buzz a bit but I only notice it if I don't wear ear plugs or don't have any music suing through the intercom, which isn't very often
The mirrors could be a bit wider, but other than that it's great

n this site I read lots about the vibrations, and loud buzzing and all these other problems. What are you guys comparing to? The other day I finally noticed a slight buzzing, but I was listening for it, and trying to hear it. The only vibrations I notice are looking back in the mirrors.

Are you guys driving around in high end luxury cars and comparing the fit and finish of a $7k bike to a $80k car?

If you haven't got your full license yet then go and buy USED Versys 08-09 (even 07 if you are in Canada).
Ride that for a season or two and then go and buy whatever you prefer. Your next purchase might not be Versys at all…you never know.
