Shouldn't Kawasaki be notifying the owners of these recalls? I am the original owner and I have received nothing from Kawasaki.

I thought a service bulletin was just to inform dealers of a potential problem .But Not an actual recall. You can check recalls here.

Exactly, there is not recall or we would have been notified. But good information to have, so we can fix or watch. I personally have not been
back to the dealer, but am going Friday to have them give me their fix on the swinging loose mirrors. I will ask them to check the wiring harness too.

I think that recall is for KLRs not the V. The V's are KLE650, whereas the KLRs are KL650E, the last letter being for the model year.

Disregard this post, I see what is apparently a recall on the KLR, not the KLE. Apparently, the Kawasaki KL650E is the KLR, if you read the last part, they refer
to the KLR. I found other blogs on websites about exhaust and wiring harness recalls on the KLR. KLR owners probably are already aware of this.

I was starting to think that kawi was having some serious problem with their exhaust and wire conception

I just sold my 2009 klr and I had received, during the year, the same recall

Just a heads up
having just had my bike serviced, the mechanic observed that there was sign of rubbing on the wirign harness under the tank. unfortunately I didn't see the wear so cant tell precisely whether its the frame or the tank thats causing the problem, I'd guess the tank. as a prophylactic he has put some extra layers of insulation tape on the wiring to delay it developing into a problems

That's something we should all check, or have checked, when cleaning the air filter or having other service done.
All in all, it seems that finish problems with the Vee are few and far between. I've heard a couple of other people mention wiring rub, there's the slight problem with loose mirrors on some bikes, the fairing buzz, somebody mentioned a pinched clutch cable caused by a guide clamp, a stock seat that sucks - that's about all that I can think of. I wish that auto manufacturers could get it together that well.
