Please educate me
I want to transfer a Google map of a planned route into my Garmin GPS. Is this possible? How do I do it?
When in Google Maps, click on the three dots to the right of where it says Share. Choose Export to KML and save the file. Then open that file using Garmin Basecamp (I'm assuming that's what you're using). It will appear as a track in Basecamp. You want to select that track and convert it to a route, then upload the route to your GPS.
There are step by step tutorials on how to do all this on YouTube if you get stuck.
You plan your route in Google Maps via its own interface, so that you are not limited to the 8 via points the new Google map uses.
It then can export direct to you connected Garmin or TomTom.
It can also export to a lot of other formats.
I also use it to convert from one GPS file format to another.
