Went for my annual birthday ride on Friday. I usually head for the high country mountains, but this year we decided to ride the Phantom Canyon Road. It's 30 miles and follows the old railroad bed up to Victor, Colorado (along with Cripple Creek, the second largest gold district in the nation). Tourists think it is narrow and scary, we thought it was a nice road.

Here's a facebook link with the Phantom Canyon ride. I cranked it up to 8x for most of it, to get it down to 12 minutes. It's a pretty drive.

Second up, is a video of the ride from Victor to Cripple Creek. For most of the 1st half of the video, the heap leach pile for the Cripple Creek and Victor Gold Mine (owned by Newmont) is visible on the right hand side. It's a pretty impressive pile of rocks.

By the way, the videos were taken by a Mobius cam. It's mounted on my left mirror stalk, so it is pretty vibey at times. I think it is time to find a new mounting place.

(hosted on Vimeo, it told me there was an error on load, but it works for me).
