Ferreus Thanks for the input. Since neither bike was at a too-good-to-pass-up price, I passed on both. Still loving my Ninja 250, and, honestly, for my current situation it's about perfect. Just remind me I said that when the next good deal comes along.

Arion Kelly Blue Book - kbb.com/motorcycle - says suggested retail (in excellent condition) for a 2008 is $4200 and for a 2009 is $4700. That might help with your negotiations. Good luck and go for the red one!

Choppastyle Absolutely love the Kawasaki Green but would say the Red is a much better deal.....Bags are around $6-$700 with mounts.

I wouldn't pay what either of them are asking either but I'd probably offer $4,300-$4,400 on the Red.

Smoking deals come up every so often, even more often on this site (but location becomes the issue).....but if you wait for one you could miss the riding season what's a couple hundred bucks? You can always sell the bags on this site (they go like hot cakes).

Example: I bought my first 08' for $3,700 with a lowering link, hard bags (scratched) and a OEM low seat last year.....Sold it a few months ago for $4,400.

Just paid $5,000 for another 08 with Happy Trails Aluminum Panniers, Bar Risers, Pegs Lowering Kit, Corbin Seat, Givi Shield, Barkbusters, Highway pegs, Rear Luggage Mount, Passenger Backrest, crash bars and 6,000 miles. (Bike had everything to turn it back to stock). I paid the $5,000 b/c I knew what I was going to do to it (farkle wise) and it was gonna be cheaper this way. I think it was a great buy

When I just bought the most recent one there was also a blue 09' with 240 miles with un-used Givi Hard Bags and a Givi Top box for $5,000 as well. They guy wouldn't take a penny less. I picked the red because of all the ad-ons I was going to do were already done.

Either way the Versys is a great bike for the money and I think anyone on the site can guarantee you'll love it.

Thank you,

dxhFZ Welcome! And I agree w weljo 4k would be my max. Remember that farkles don't increase the value of the bike... If the person insists on the price tell em to keep the bags if you don't want em

ATYC Hey Ferreus. Welcome. I too went from a Ninja 250 to the Versys, so if you do pull the trigger on one, I'm sure you'll be happy.

The bags/racks on the red bike are pretty expensive. So I'd say the bikes are evenly priced considering year, milage and extras on each. As for a good deal, I'd say +1 to weljo, a lot of that depends on geography.

Where are you shopping?

weljo2001 A lot depends are where you live. Here in California the prices are usally higher on used bikes. But i wouldn't give over 4 grand for either one of those bikes you listed.

Intro and Question

I've been riding for almost a year now on a 2010 Ninja 250. I'm thinking about moving to the V. There are two listed on CL in my area. One is a 2008 (red) with under 6k miles on it. It's listed for $4900 (down from $5200 originally) and comes with the Versys hard saddlebag set and Versys hard saddlebag brackets. The other is a 2009 (green) with 3800 miles, completely stock for $4999. The owner of the '09 says the tires have "40-50%" left.

Are either of these a good deal? I don't need a new bike right now, but if the right deal came along I'd be willing to go for it. I'm just not sure if either of these are that deal. Thoughts?
