OP hasn't been on since October 2018. Specify what oil you use, also take the linkage apart and grease, I added a grease nipple when I had my 07. Also make absolutely sure your foot rest hasn't come loose, I had that happen on my 2015, won't up shift .

thank you for welcome and replies

Thanks guys for welcomes and replies.
I bought this bike 3 weeks ago so I do not know what oil they had put in it last (could that be the problem?)
I have a 30 day warranty on it that's why I want to know what kind of an issue it is. Oddly every time I pass by the store to ask them to check it the gear shift works like a charm. It only happens after hours and weekends after 4:45 PM just as every garage closes.
My last bike was a 97 Vulcan 1500 classic and had to be put aside for typical transmission problem those models had (although after 118000km) so I am a bit worried with this bike's transmission issues. I will ask the store to check what you suggested.

Welcome from Canada

to the forum , please read;https://www.kawasakiversys.com/forum...ber-intro.html Typical problem is the 07 didn't have a means of lubing the pivot point, although that sounds like shifter fork problems, first you need to remove the shifter from the footpeg and lube it, possible rust corrosion. As to neutral, normally you should only be able to find neutral shifting up from 1st. Check your clutch free play also.
What engine oil are you using?

silviefox O.O that sounds like shift fork / selector issue . but i would inspect your linkage first

problem with gear change

Hi
I bought a 2007 Versys 650 two weeks ago and although I really like this bike I have experienced something unusual and need your opinion on it:
When riding for a long time on 6th gear and trying to downshift pressing one down instead of going to 5 goes all the way down to 2 and falls limp. There is no springy effect and I can not put the bike to 1. I have to play with the gear shift till I can get to some other gear and then go to 1.
With exception of this particular condition gear change works just fine and smooth. Although this bike does not fit into Nutral easily.
What do you think is the problem and how should I fix it?
thanks in advance
