Bike won't start?

Just tried to start my bike and it cranked started to fire died and now won't start. Since my last ride hauled it about 650 miles on a bike trailer which I have done before. Any clues what I should do.....not much of a mechanic.

I had the same problem on a ride far from home.
I boosted from another car and returned home.
Changed the battery, no problem since.
I had 20k and 3 years on the bike.

2017 Versys X300 mileage 4500. Yep, it's got gas and the battery is good. Cranks but it's not getting gas or fire???

I know this is obvious, but it does happen. Did you check the kill switch by the throttle, it could have accidentally been hit while loading, unloading or tying it down.

This is a remote case which happen to one of my riding buddies. Brand new X250 and wont fire up. Diagnosed as Crank sensor failure.

Since you strap your bike, you might have somehow disturb the sensor or the harness. Try moving it and see if you can fire it up.

There is also the kickstand safety switch - the wires cans be dislodged if they're bumped from underneath.

My bad, I didn't see it was a 300, oops!
Sorry.

Is the bike under warranty yet?

Yeah, if you want true ram air tuning, you better be willing to ram some air! (SteveinSunnyFlorida)

Versys 650 / X300

I don't have access to the wire diagrams , so if this was a 650 Versys, I would ask if you have any engine malfunction or other warning lights? If not and again I assume the X300 has very similar circuitry to the 650, I would put my money on the vehicle down sensor or what I refer to as the tip over switch. It is one of the only sensors I know that if it malfunctions correctly, no warning signs or lights, the bike will crank, but no fuel pump or stick coil power. There is a warning about not dropping it or jarring it, consider it was on the trailer, one really good bump and it could fail, starting then quitting could be the fuel left in the system and the time it took for the ECU to assume the bike was down. We have come up with a work around for the 650 2015 Versys to prove this using 2 resistors. It would be helpfull to have the electrical drawings on this as I assume this VDS actually exists on the X 300.

And IF it is the "vehicle-down" sensor on a V650, the FIX is: key Off, then back ON after the bike is upright.

Well I guess I fixed my bike that wouldn't start. The bike is a 2017 Versys X300 with 4500 miles and never a glitch one. I loaded the bike on a trailer hauled it 650 miles which I had done before. Unloaded the bike, tried to start, it cranked but would not start. The bike would crank over and over but not start. I let it sit a couple of days tried again same thing. Days later I checked all the fuses, pulled the air cleaner off and shot some starting fluid while cranking...nothing. Hooked up a battery charger cranked while charging, no help. I gave up and loaded the bike bake on the trailer and lashed down with a plan to take it to a Kawa dealer in Tyler. For some reason I tried again to start it while lashed down, WTF it starts right up. Took it off the trailer, starts fine. I have started it 10 or so times, taken it for a couple of short rides and everything seems OK. Now I'm wondering if I have an intermittent issue?

Did you, by chance, have it tied down over the driver’s seat when on the trailer? My ‘17 would barely run several months ago....the seat mounts very close to the air filter intake and a strap from a seat cushion was pinched between the bottom of the seat and the air intake. Removed the loose strap end, and it ran great again.

I have seen bikes strapped across the seat when on a trailer.

I would also check the side stand switch on your bike.

Tie downs on the bar grips and one through the rear wheel looped around rim and tire. This is the way Kawasaki loaded the bike when I bought it. If the problem was the side stand switch, it wouldn't crank....would it?

It will not start with the stand down if it is in gear.
