Tank Grips

I'm in the process of learning about off-road riding technique, and 'grip the tank with your knees' when standing / crouching is something I'm hearing a lot.

I don't know if its the paint on my olive green Versys-X SE, or the material in my Alpinestars Sonoran, or both, but there is zero friction. None.

Is anyone using a tank grip that they like, and that is known to work when standing/crouching?

R&G make grip pads for this bike or you can buy generic stomp grip pads & cut them to suit your needs. Yes gripping the tank can be useful for the type of off road riding you are likely to do on the X300 whilst stand up riding.

I wanted knee grips for different reasons.Riding through the cold mountain passes here this time of year gets me hugging the bike with my knees to feel the heat eminating from the upper engine area.Sometimes I hug with my knees for stability as well.Unfortunately ,the gas tank is very cold so I put some rubber pads lower on the plastic area under the knee indents.Keeps me from scratching up the tank too with my knees...
