Gear Position Sensor issue (check engine error 25)
I have a stock 2017 Versys-X 300. I seem to be having an issue with the gear position sensor. A couple of months ago I had the check engine light come on, the error read 25 which from my understanding is the gear position sensor. So I ordered a new sensor and replaced it. The check engine light went away after riding it for a few miles. Unfortunately, the check engine light with the same error code has returned after about 100miles of riding.
Has anyone had issues with this? I don't know anything about gear position sensors, aside from the fact they tell you what gear you're in lol. So I guess my question is, could this be caused by a larger issues, such as an issue with the transmission or electronics etc.? The bike feels to be functioning fine, shifting feels normal. I'm just getting the check engine light and the dash only shows when I'm in Neutral. When I'm in gear (1-6), I just get 2 flashing lines next to each other. Also, is it normal for a little bit of oil to be where the sensor goes? When I removed the sensor I saw there were traces of oil around the walls of where the sensor sits.
I appreciate any information you have. Thanks!
