Neutral light adjustment

I changed the chain and sprockets on my Versys, and now the neutral light is not coordinated with neutral on the transmission. The neutral light flickers on and then immediately off when I am shifting the bike into neutral, so I suspect it is just a matter of making a slight adjustment somewhere. I've tried adjusting the shift linkage, and that didn't fix it. Does anyone have any idea how to adjust the light to coordinate with actual neutral?

This should be moved to the Technical forum section.

Is there sufficient chain slack? What type of engine oil do you use? How many miles are on the oil, and the Versys?

The chain is to spec...measured the play with a ruler and everything, as I always do. I rode the bike on a 4,400 mile trip a few weeks ago and changed the oil just before leaving and as soon as I got back. The light worked until the sprocket / chain changes. I have to believe I may have jostled wires getting the front sprocket off.

That's more miles than I generally like to go between changes, but it was virtually all highway miles, and the changes were just weeks apart. The bike has 19,000 miles.

Thanks for the tip. I'll move the question to the technical section.
