Captain Nemo's 1883 Terra Ambulator

the Mark II... North American version minus the armaments.... the Victorian gentleman's preferred method of conveyance. found in the ruins of a deserted garage in France just prior to WW II. it had been abandoned in the middle east in the 20's for unknown reasons and sat in a warehouse in Cairo for a decade. it then returned to Europe where it disappeared in the Balkans for 50 years. re-discovered reasonably complete in the late 80's after the Wall fell, and passed from collector to collector. eventually restored with the available records and some anecdotal tails. very few photos exist of the bike, and none of the original stained glass windshield. Tiffiny will not discuss the windshield because Lewis C apparently had a "tiff" with Nemo and ordered that once the contract was completed, no communication whatsoever with C Nemo will be tolerated.

if I'm answering your question I assume the basic points have been addressed, such as: did you do a compression test? is it still on fire?

Looks a bit Steam Punk and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

I do not have the Mo-stash to pull this ride off!

I had heard rumors over the years but, until now, nothing substantive. Suspected Nemo was far ahead of his time and, thanks to your photos, now understand his heretofore secret relationship with the long-past formative days of the Japanese motorcycle industry. We now know, beyond doubt, the true origins of that particular engine design. We owe you a debt of gratitude for shedding light on this dark subject. As a journalistic kingpin once said, inquiring minds want to know.

ya... tired of building bobbers, etc, Steampunk was the idea. there are a few on the internet, but half of them are graphics... as in, they don't really exist. it seemed like the right thing to do. the hulk was given to me about 5 years ago, it was in a garage fire & then spent a decade outside partially stripped. it is the most orphan bike I have ever worked on (and I used to restore Brit bikes). at the time no engine parts were available, just getting it to run is a long story. as for the rest... anything on the bike that is not available in a catalog is something I built

if I'm answering your question I assume the basic points have been addressed, such as: did you do a compression test? is it still on fire?

sold the last of my right side shifter bikes about 15 years ago.... just about the time I went digital over film, so not many pix to post of my Brits. got a couple though

my last B44, built from the best NOS saved over the years

another square barrel in bobber form

not much to show for 40 years of ridin' European iron.. got more in photo form on paper though. some day I will digitize
