How clever of Honda to overhype what seems to me to be a mediocre adventure bike.
There's nothing on there that my old DRZ400 couldn't do in the hands of a capable (professional) rider.
It's been nothing but marketing by the Big H for over 12months now, & just go to Advrider to see the multitude of comments & guys who "just can't wait to get one!" because "it seems like the best motorbike ever to come out of the Honda stable!"

I'll put money down that you won't see a standard AT in
the Paris-Dakar!

I've read and watch some reviews of this bike...It certainly isn't the world beater that it's evidently (if you believe the hype) predecessor was...it's a capable bike in the class it's aimed at (think BMW GS)...as an adventure bike I would think it's a little more adventurous than a Versys 1000...

good luck finding a sucker for that bet. the dakar has a 450cc limit, hence the lack of beemers.

i think the reason so many people are excited about this bike is that it promises to be as offroadable as anything in the liter bike adventure class, while also promising the be the least likely of such to leave you stranded in the middle of nowhere. at least that's my thinking. i personally wouldn't stray too far from home on a KTM/BMW, i prefer to travel with the Rising Sun....

also, a ds bike is not a reasonable comparison for an adv bike. that's like saying "a 636 can do anything a concours can do for less money." true, but...

In a world full of people, only some want to ride. Isn't that crazy?
