four days away on the Ninja 1000

Just had a great summer 4 days away riding around the south island NZ, spent part of the time at a rally on the west coast called Woodstock, they had a great poker run on Saturday, visiting some real great old hotels and historical places. The temp most days was 30 plus Celsius so vented gloves and pants were order of the day apart from one idiot couple going for the Darwin awards on a zx 14 in nothing more than shorts and tee shirt, no gloves.

Will post a couple of short vids of ride over. We did have one guy who was from a different club join us but he did not make it all the way as he crashed his Kawasaki cruiser and ended up with 5 broken ribs and a punctured lung, it a good thing I ride with a bluetoothed helmet so he was able to ring me as I was already several kms up the road.

Team ready to take off including one of our guys who was supposed to ride but broke his foot so he wearing a moon boot and driving his wagon towing my little tilting trailer.

Some of the drama with our mate detouring up to a lookout point off a bend and he rode up a bank and ditch his bike before he went over a small cliff ( a guy on a bike was killed doing the same thing a week ago), we reckon it was about 70 metre before he stopped once he went off the road. Three cop cars two fire trucks and one ambulance and we had one hour wait because of the isolation. Even though we have a free accident and emergency system it still costs you $80.00 for ambulance which they send the person a bill a few weeks later.

The guy that crashed had a bottle of whiskey in his saddle bag so we took a photo of a mate pretending to drink while the cops left but it was all in good humour as one of the cops had said to me this is a alcohol free zone with a smile on his face as after all it was in a isolated area.
