Yamaha XT350 Restoration

I know most of you wonder what I do in my spare time... Well the wondering is over. Bought a 89 Yam XT350 off Craigslist for $150...Didn't run but most parts were there. Here it is fresh off the truck.

Teardown begins

Who needs powder coating...Rattle cans to the rescue...Wife was not happy we used her table for a paint stand

Unexpected surprize...Picked a good piston & cylinder off Ebay for 12 bucks

Changed the color to Yamahopper yellow...Time to start the rebuild

Did a top end rebuild on the engine, everything else looked fine, but who knows...Time to install...Thats the son who has assisted along the way

Well, we shall see this weekend if it runs...Say a prayer to the XT God

If I new what I was doing, I wouldn't still be working

Nice job, hope it runs. Is it for you, or your son? I get the fever for a dirtbike
but I lie down till it passes, if you know what I mean. I have enough hobbies,
one more might send me to the curb!

SWEET! I tell my wife wrenching old (or new) bikes keeps me out of the taverns.

That's my story and I'm sticking with it.

Can't wait to see more pics!

BTW contractor? That smile on the youngster's face speaks volumes. Good for you dad,,,

My firts "big bike" was a Yamaha XT 125 ............ Looking forward to the finished product , but seeing that you and your son are doing this together it is already a winner in my mind , 100 points have been added to your Good Dad record
