New Bike...

To keep my job as a nursing teacher at a 2-year college, I need to get my Master's degree. While working fulltime, going to school is just about killing me. As an incentive to graduate.. my wife stated I should buy any bike I want when I graduate... so now instead of studying I am researching bikes.

I was thinking about the Moto-guzzi Stelvio or Triumph Tiger... I love the looks and size of the Stelvio and the tiger reminds me of my Versys. I live on a dirt road (5 miles), and ride it daily. For the record.. I love the Versys...I picked it up the summer of 08 and I will graduate December 10 or spring 11 if I am lucky... Bottom line I like researching bikes, and would love to get a big adventure type bike. I'm 6'1" 215lbs. Any suggestions....

I like the Tiger. I could see selling the Versys in a year or so & getting one. Sounds like you have a good wife who knows how to help keep you motivated...

Checked out the Tiger

Checked out a Tiger Today... Left over 08. My wife looked at it.. sat on the Pillion... said- "I want it" My Versys is now for sale. The Tiger felt right... Similiar to the versys... It seemed to fit my size a bit better.

Short ride

Short ride... ten miles.. Personally felt it similiar to the Versys... Brakes grabbier and the engine felt as though I had a Hemi- between my legs. However, in the stock form it felt a bit relaxing.. ie seemed to fit my frame a bit better. I didn't take my wife for a ride on it though...

You're a lucky man. I still love my V but everyonce in a while when I wish I had a few more ponies I think of the Tiger. Its appearance, performance and seating style really appeal to me.....the same as the Versys when I first heard about it and started researching it.

versys no more :(

Traded my Versys today for a left over 08 Tiger. I enjoyed my Versys... However, my dear sweet wife insisted I get the Tiger....My first test drive last week made me nervous.. Powerful... Tried it again today.. felt better.. Drove it home.. felt awesome. Only way I can describe it - is that it feels like a more substantial versys.. with gobs of power. spent most of the week getting my old accessories off the bike.. SW side racks, kawasaki top rack, SW motech engine guards, and vario extended foot pegs. I'll be posting to sell soon.. Last thing I want to do is sound like I'm bragging about getting a new bike... Nonetheless, I'm happy to have the Tiger. Now I can gawk at it while taking breaks from studying.

Cool bike, hope it works out perfectly for you.
And.... I'm glad to see you got the missus proper gear. It's the most important part of motorcycling.
