I saw the "Zero" electric motorcycles at a dealer in Texas, a couple of years ago. Neat idea. At the time, they were made in the USA. Their website says "Crafted in California"

They also had some electric scooters that were similar to the little 49cc scooters. Don't know where they were manufactured, but the salesman told me that they were good sellers.

The idea that Yamaha may be marketing electirc motorcycle(s) sorta makes ya wonder.

I mean, ten years ago if you had told me that a car like the Prius would be selling like hotcakes, I'd of thought you were nuts. They're everywhere now.

Electric motorcycles? Eh, maybe. Seems like they'd make good comuter bikes.

I think I'd miss the sound of our twin cylinder at 8000 rpm.

I am going say this right now. I will never ever ever ever buy an electric motorcycle. I think this is the worst idea anyone ever had. I understand the market for these is very much there, but it's like taking the soul out of the bike. There is something about these "zero emission" motorcycles that just gets me angry. I mean lets start with the fact that the electricity they use is most likely created with fossil fuels that are far less efficient than a regular motorcycle engine. That's not to mention the impact on the environment from the batteries that these bikes will use. Just stick to making "real" motorcycles better and more efficient, and I think you will end up with a better product. Sorry but I just hate all these electric vehicles, and the people who drive them thinking they are saving the planet.

Ian - ever notice that most of those "saving the planet" people don't have any lips...?
