Ninja 1000 2014

Been a few changes on this bike since it came out in 2011 for the 2014 version.

In NZ the bike comes standard with panniers and ABS at $22,000 NZ

It is a good option to have power and not have to ride in the aggressive position of the ZX10R.

However for that look I think I would go with the C14.

It has really slick mounts for those hard cases. No ugly frame racks to look at when the bags are off.

Always trust your cape.

Wow! That would be over $18,000 US! I paid $12,800 for my new '12 Concours. Are NZ salaries higher on average than US?

MSRP here is $12K, plus $1.2K for the bags. 2014 Concours is $16.2K.

I thought he was saying what one would have to pay in NZ. I was stating what I paid for a new bike. Not sure what MSRPs have to do with what it cost to buy a bike.

Probably not we just live on a isolated island on the uttermost part of the world and middle earth can be $$$$. Petrol at pump is $2.20 per litre for 95 octane 91 is $2.11 and diesel is $1.49 per litre.

Also consider that currently 1 USD = 1.20 NZD

I agree, that is a sweet looking and very aggressive looking bike, but I am not sure I am willing to get rid of my V for it though. For that price, I can find a slightly used Connie 14, which is like a rocketship with a comfy seat and a full fairing.

I really like how the saddlebags look and that fact that it looks as if they deleted the rack to hold on the bags.

Well it looks really good, but I think the price is quite high imho.

I went to the 2011 Kawasaki Ticket to ride specifically to ride the Ninja 1000 as a replacement for the Ninja 650. I was disappointed in how buzzy the bike was. If I was going to have the extra maintenance of an I-4 engine I expected it to be smooth. I also rode the Concours and was impressed, but not ready to spend that kind of money. Then I hopped on the Versys and was amazed! Made me feel like a kid again. The versys is so much fun to ride.

The more I read about this bike, the more I like it. Needs heated grips and power ports. Cruise would be nice, too, but that'll be tough (not impossible) without a ride-by-wire throttle. Silly that the top case and side cases aren't compatible, although supposedly that's the case with my Versys and I have side cases and a top case. Maybe the REAL case is too many lawyers.
