Got bucked off my dual sport yesterday

Thankful for Hydrocodone!

While I was waiting on a friend, I spotted this deer checking me out.

pick of my shoulder. could have been worse.

The ER diagnosis is: left AC joint separation, contusion left chest wall, and T1 clay shelver fracture. The ortho I saw this morning said no surgery but definitely physical therapy.

here is a pic of where it occurred. I was travelling from right to left. The opening in the tree line for the driveways gave me a false sense that the road continued straight. when I realized that the road curved to the right I tried to bleed off speed an started sliding. I knew that if I continued to try and make the corner that I risked hitting the tree. I decided to cross the grass and head for the driveway. I would have made it if not for the drainage ditch that was obscured by the crest of the grassy area. it was quite a ride. I prefer dirt over gravel because the small rocks provide little traction.

here is the xray.

I can return to riding when I deem it is safe to do so. Just getting out of the lazyboy takes my breathe away.

I was fully geared up. Could have been worse.

Hate to hear you got hurt. But like you said it could have been much worse. Hope you heal fast.

yep. could have been on the versys which would not have faired so well. LOL!

While I was laying there waiting on my friend, a postal worker drove up and delivered mail and never said a word. hopefully they just thought I was resting and would have reacted differently if the bike was still on its side.

Always wondered what that injury was called. Got it years ago playing hockey. My bump never fully went away!

Hope you heal up fast! Was that a klx250! I love those bikes. Only thing better is the new Honda FI 250 dual.

Best of luck and if you get board your fellow riders here on the forum will keep you out of trouble!

Heal fast my friend!

Sorry man. Follow your PT regimen to the letter and you'll recover 99%. (There will always be some reminder, but that's life.)

Sorry to hear that. Glad you faired as well as you did. Glad you weren't on a 1200 something or other!

Thanks all for the kind words. I would not have wanted to be on the versys, never mind a full adventure touring bike. I believe the armor helped reduce my injuries. The Physical Therapist expected me to be in worse shape. I told him I'm a motorcyclist, not a biker.

Hey guys. Off the heavy meds last night. My bud's weren't going to let a crash get me out of going to vintage days at Barber. They were willing to do whatever to assist me with getting around and putting on slings and wraps. Even tying my shoes for me. I'm so glad I went. Kept my mind off recovering, and I guess I now joined a fraternity of AC joint separation survivors. Met quite a few. The ribs bothered me the most because you use your core muscles to get up and down, cough, laugh, etc. Those mean friends made me laugh a lot which hurt but was good for my recovery.

Haven't been able to really look the bike over, but beside some scratches, looks like broken hand guard mount, brake line guide, and bent clutch lever. Another reason to start out on a dual sport.
