Honda Grom

Just dropped off a deposit to grab the first one that hits my dealership next month. My dealer said they will be very limited in supply this year. This will be little brother to my V for funnin' around town.

http://powersports.honda.com/2014/grom.aspx

I have always enjoyed riding smaller bikes around town. This thing looks like a hoot! It tops out at 60MPH. It is a 4 speed FI 125cc.

It has all the modern features of a full size bike including FI, Disk Brakes, Digital Dash, etc.. It has a seat height of 29.7" and weighs in at 225 pounds with a 1.45 gallon tank.

There was a black one being rode around at Mid-Ohio Vintage Days over the week-end and it was sharp!!

Honda is a major sponsor of the track and I guess their VIP's got some seat time, not on the track, just riding around the pits & swap meet area.

We have a Ruckus that is used for our pit bike and the aftermarket is huge for them so I'm guessing folks will go crazy over the Grom.

The local dealers have already sold their allotted ones.

Yer gonna love it I bet!!!!

Damn, that's cute! I'll bet it's a hoot to zip around on, but Grom has to be the strangest name I've heard in a long time. I wonder if it came from Lord of the Rings?

Starting at less that $3K means one could buy ten of them for less than the new Motus MST.

125 is awful small! looks fun! Can you get it plated in all the states? I kinda like it for the "I'm bored" and point A to B moments :P

EDIT: I want one.

GROM - It's SoCal slang.... See: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=grom

Surf example: "Look at that Grom get caught inside!" Gnarly...hehheh....

"Kirk out!"

Someday is not a day of the week.

Indeed. I have had other small bikes before. This one is the most advanced and having full seat height will be a plus on the ol back!

Agree. My neighbor has a FI 125 Honda scooter and it is a blast to zip around town. Too many people don't give the small displacement bikes a second glance. I know going into this purchase what I am getting and its limitations. I am going to have fun. It would never be my primary bike as I get out of town way too often and this is not a highway or long distance machine.

Watch this guy who can't stop giggling.

It meets the DOT standards to get tagged in the USA. They are going crazy over them in California especially the scooter clubs. Since they are Cali friendly, I would assume every state would be OK. I have had smaller bikes than this tagged in VA.

What is this "around town" you speak of? Closest grocer is 12 miles away. Restaurant 14 miles. Name brand fuel 10 miles. Work 26 to 400 miles away. LOL!

Tiny looking bike, but kinda cool looking in a Grom (sounds like a character name in one of the Shrek movies) sort of way.

I think if I lived around town, I would get a Zero electric bike.

Sounds like you live in Maine. Except for work, distances are pretty familiar.

Well Capn we have talked about this for years! CONGRATS!!

You will have a blast on that little machine! Nice looking bike!

Surprised you went below 250cc.

I am still looking around? You won and pulled the trigger in true Capn Kirk style! Enjoy my friend!

Will do. This little bugger can do all the legal speeds for the next couple towns. I used to have a 125 w/ 8" wheels (street legal) but it maxed out and was quite squirly at 45 MPH. You let the handlebars twitch even a little and it was over!

This one is bigger in seat height and wheel size so it should be much more comfortable not to mention the FI engine.... YES!!

You will find a deal one day on a play bike as well. Keep the eyes peeled and you will one day bring it home.

I'll post up some pics and a ride report when I get it home.

Thanks for the support!

That's awesome Capn! I've read up on the Grom with Honda Canada, but I didn't realise it was coming to the U.S. too. I think you're going to love it.

Always trust your cape.
