There's a few things I like about the DN-01, even though the biker-azzi snub their noses at it because it's an automatic, and because it's different they think it's ugly. I kinda like the looks, but I always like different.
I was able to see and sit on one at the Long Beach Cycle World show last month. It was amazingly comfortable, and the low seat height was very nice. It seems to have a very long wheelbase for such a small engine size. I don't know how it would be to drive, or if the low slung windscreen and fairing would be any good for weather and wind protection. Since I've been riding the scooter I've been spoiled by (and come to enjoy) the automatic transmission, and laid-back seating posture. However, the DN-01 is less than 700 cc, and the price tag is close to $15,000! Considering that the Suzuki Burgman 650 is 650 cc's and the "Executive" model has an MSRP of $9300, that's pushing the price point a bit, imo. Plus the Suzi has loads of internal storage built in.
If Honda wants to sell this machine here, they need to bump up the horsepower, and add some touring farkles. Right now on their web site there are NO accessories listed for this bike. I think I would really dig this bike at about 1000 or 1200 ccs for long distance power. Add hard bags (maybe even integrated like the much maligned Pacific Coast 800), and an adjustable height windscreen. A twist and go touring bike, with all the comfort of a Gold Wing without the bulk, if it were a reliable Honda engine ... with a seat height of 30 inches ... I'd seriously think about shelling out $17,000 or more for that.
But I don't suspect it will sell well at the price it's at now.
