Goodbye Versys...hello Honda varadero

So I found a larger 'versys' that I like, its the Honda Varadero. I located a used (2300km) 2008 model in mint condition. It has a 996cc VTwin (same motor as found in the VTR 1000) producing 92HP and 72 ft lbs, its a nice torquey motor well suited to street riding. At 539 lbs dry, it does not fell light and flickable as the Versys, but the tradeoff is much smoother ride, esp on highways. That big fairing does a great job of keeping wind/rain off.
19" front wheel is handy in the rougher stuff.
Despite the mass the handling is great, the wide bars make steering a cinch, and it can be made to hustle through the curves. Fun.
This is what I had hoped kawasaki would do, useing a nice twin cyl motor instead of a 4.
I sold the Versys in 3 days! Popular bike. I was kinda sad to see it go.
This has been a great forum, I learned a lot from the members here re tech stuff. Thanks, and safe riding to all!

Sorry to see any one leave. That Honda is a pretty sweet lookin' ride though. Good luck and enjoy.

What a shame. It seem to be the case too often. Why don't we deserve the really sharp machines so much of the rest of the world can buy? Perhaps that's an unnecessary question, but then . . . .

Can't help but think the name Honda chose sounds something like an ED medication.

If anyone's interested: dropped in to the local Honda dealer in Kelowna, BC yesterday. There are TWO 2009 Varaderos in the showroom, both with ABS. Black one was a demo (about 7000kms - 4200 miles), and the paint where your legs would touch it looks like that "rhino" stuff they put in pickup beds, has crash bars and ?, at about $9900.

Other one is gold and black, smooth (NO rhino), no apparent extras, no miles, about $11xxx. Their website is:
www.kelownahonda.com/index.htm

They are moving, so maybe prices are MORE negotiable...?
