Now I've really done it...

Things just got really weird for me, and I couldn't be more delighted.

Last night I traded in my Versys...

For this!

It's a 2006 Ural Raven, with only 1878km (1166 miles). It's one of 30 sold in the U.S. (another 30 were sold in Europe). It's also a 2WD model, so now not even the snow will stop me (that was the only time I would stop riding the Versys).

It is definitely a new riding experience, and I found my self saying "This is sooooo weird!!!" all while smiling and laughing like a fool.

I'm sure I will have many adventures in this rig. Lots more utility, and maybe the fiancee will even ride sometimes. She didn't like the Versys (or other bikes) because of the perceived instability, and being completely out in the open. This will fix both of those issues (and be able to carry all the stuff she takes along )

I'm trying to schedule a training class or some one on one training shortly. This is a completely different animal.

More pictures (in the garage, it was about 1AM when I got home with it)

It reminds me of that great Steve McQueen movie, "The Great Escape". Very Cool!

Thanks everyone. Yeah I figured I would need to break out the Locktite.

El_Tig, thanks but actually that is dirty and unorganized compared to normal.

I agree - very cool. You must have a good handle on your self-image. People who buy stuff only, or at least primarily, so others will be impressed so often miss genuinely unique and enjoyable experiences. Have a great time with your Ural.

That's a nice trailer!
In my experience that's a very important Ural accessory.

Very unique machine. With the 2 wheel drive system, is it still an option to take the side car off and run without it sometime? Is there alot involved if you do that? Enjoy.

Always trust your cape.

I hope you are able to ride more than wrench, and enjoy the wrenching as well.

They don't recommend using the bike solo even without the 2wd. The front suspension is leading link, so not the best for solo use, and the tires are square profiles, not rounded like normal bike tires.

Me too, and the wrenching seems simple in comparison to bikes I've had in the past. Should be enjoyable.

The fiancee likes it too! She even asked to go for a ride this weekend, and she never would have done that before.

She thinks she will ride enough now that she wanted to personalize her helmet.

No but her obsession with them started when she named her kitten Cupcake.

She also likes to bake them, so that is a nice benefit for me

You know when you learn a new word all of a sudden you hear it over and over.
Well, I saw your post and the next day a cammo colored Ural with a side car passes me on a side street in my little whitebread suburb.
Now that's weird. Have I entered into the Ural time warp?

Well the Ural is kind of time warp all by itself.
